Moroccan art
almost cover the entire Morocco and each region has its own specialty, ranging
from their raw materials which are very abundant and from their own special
skills. Their woodworking art is classified into two categories: the urban and
the rural art.
The urban art has been influenced by mentality of Spain in
making carpets, fabrics and embroideries as well as in the production of
ceramic, metal, wood and leather products. On the other hand, the arts of rural
are more primitive. Their arts are often utilitarian and very vital to daily
life such as furniture, tools, utensils, and some ornaments for the community.
Nowadays, the use of wood as building materiel is already widespread. It is
also used in the construction of mosques, monuments and buildings. Moroccan woodworking is considered a fine art
that requires a lot of patience and precision. Thanks to the presence of trees
that are so abundant, that made Morocco woodworking possible.
